nemo sleepingWe’re bored!  Too much snow, we can’t go very far on Dog Walk, so Momma Dog took us to the park yesterday.  We had to stay on the main path, but we ran and chased each other.  Mostly Nemo was chasing me, he’s put on a pound or two during the Christmas Holidays, although he says his coat has just gotten thicker.  Momma Dog feeds the birds so we have been watching them out the window.  Right now we have cardinals and Juncos, and we are watching the orange slices nailed to the post for woodpeckers.  Ho hum, I guess I’ll go watch Animal Planet for while.  Adios! Huck

Two days after Christmas and the floor is littered with squeakies without their bodies.  They look like things you might find in a tidal pool, ick.  Our neighbor bladed out our driveway today so we have a place to chase after squirrels.  We went for a short walk with Momma Dog.  Huck looked like a snowball with legs jumping out of the snow, so we took pity on him and came back through the barn.  Our snow measures 28″ in some places.  Huck measures nine.  Here’s a picture of the icicles hanging from the front porch.  Are you thinking Huck-ka-bob?

smowWe are kenneled in!  Until the plow digs us out, I am having to put up with living with someone of a different breed.  Someone who does not enjoy sleeping, someone who is constantly squeaking toys, asking why can’t we play poker, dragging toys out all over the house!  Aaaauuuggghhh!   Send the plow, send the plow!  Where’s my gorilla?

Christmas Day 2009

Squeak, squeak, squeak Squeak!

Chomp, chomp, chomp, mmmm….chewbones with meat in the middle.

Huck!  Stop that constant squeaking!  I can’t take it anymore!  You’re on my last nerve.

I’m trying to “kill it” but this is the meanest squeaker I’ve ever seen, and I wouldn’t talk Rhino sides, your chewbone chomping is about to drive me outside and right up a drift.

Merry Christmas from all of us to all of you!  We are snowed in until the plow comes.

nemo stockinghuck stockingGreat Dog! Sleet and another foot of snow on the way!  Do you think Santa will come Nemo?

Yes I do, small snowflake of a terrier.

What about all the barking. cat chasing, muddy tracks and stuff?

We are dogs Huck, it’s our nature.  We were made to chase and bark.  It’s one of our gifts to humans.

You’ve been into Momma Dog’s theology books again.

I have and Grace covers a multitude of sins Huck.

Grace who?

huck in neckerchiefKrikey!  How much longer is it until the big Ho, Ho, Ho, Nemo?

Two days until Christmas eve.

I certainly hope he wasn’t watching today.  We’ve won’t get a thing!

Yeah, you sneaked Momma Dog’s second piece of toast off the table this morning causing her to think she had lost her mind.

You know butter is my weakness.  She would have given it to me if I had asked.  Besides Nemo, you chased the cat across the living room and down the basement stairs and she had to yell at you.

That’s not as bad as stealing.  You know we can’t touch the top of the table, and then you wouldn’t go outside for dogwalk.  Man, I’m about ready to bite that snippy cat.  The stress is killing me.  I need to go to the field and work out.

The field is covered with a foot of snow.

Then I’ll just have to wrestle you down and breath my dogbreath on you.

Icccckkkk!

kimHey Huck, we have another cousin.  Kimberly has a new white German Shepherd service dog named Tribute.

What’s a service dog?

Service dogs help their humans with a lot of things, Huck.  Tribute is trained to bring the telephone to Kim, pick things up off the floor, and exercise with her.

Does He have a tail?

Yes, a big bushy one.  Take a look at his picture on our blog.  He’s the biggest dog I’ve ever seen and he’s just a PUP!

Krikey, let’s forget about the pickup and just ride him!

SeanNemo!  There’s our neighbor with his pickup.  Let’s go down to his road and see if he will give us a ride in the back.  Lots of dogs out west ride in pickups, I bet Lucky rides in a pickup.  Probably wears a bandana too.

How do we get up there?

We jump!

Jump, have you been hanging out with kangaroos?  Jump way up there from the ground.  The tailgate’s up, small eager terrier type.  I need a hoist or someone to lift me up.

No you don’t, just leap into the air and swing your tail from side to side…

Aah, I don’t have a tail Huck.

Blimy!  Too much information.  I don’t want hear about it.    Come on, we need to find a vine, a BIG vine.

I don’t know how those sled dogs do it?Three trackers

Do what small, snowball terrier?

Break trails Jeep Cherokee, break trails.

We went out today and took our usual route up the hill,  across,  and down the back.  A foot of snow to break through all the way.  Nemo and Momma Dog took turns leading, then me, then three of the cats.   I tried to lead once, but after disappearing in a drift I decided not to be a hero.  This year we had a lot of little blue stem grass with seed heads in the pasture, and each plant we passed was surrounded by loads of bird tracks and the seeds devoured.  We passed where a deer had slept last night and Nemo and I tracked him into the forest.

Yeah, and when we came in Huck was wild as a flying monkey because he was wet and he hates that!  Round and round leaping on the beds forcing me to chase him.  Both of us had snowballs hanging on our back legs and underbellies.  Mush Huck, mush!  Where’s Yukon King when I need him?

huck and cat2Today our nemesis Squirrelly,  tried a frontal attack to get at the cat kibble, but Nemo was watching out the window and sounded the alarm.  Momma Dog let us out so we could chase him.  This required Nemo breaking trail and all I could see was the north end of Nemo going south.  Picture the rear end of a galloping beer horse.  Whoops, krikey, forgot again.   We fought our way across the front yard and chased Mr. Brown Squirrel right up the Maple tree.  What a nutter he is, chattered and cursed at us from a limb just out of our reach no matter how high we leaped.

Note to Santa, take a look at the picture, that’s me and Momma Kitty. See I’m playing nicely with the nice cat.  I’m letting that claw wearing feline rest beside me.  For nine more days.  Huck
