We have been having fun playing with our Las Vegas cousins, but they are tick magnets!  Huck and I hardly ever get ticks on us, but Jackson and Thor have to be tick searched nightly.  Their owners have decided that country living is not for them, and are missing the streets and bright lights of the big city.  To complicate things, it’s also moth and miller season here and they swarm to the night light on the RV.  The city dogs are afraid of the coyotes and think they are lurking behind the barn to snuff them.  Busy time in southwest Iowa.  Affectionately,  Nemo

Got to go, by the way, it’s tick season.”  Huck

“Yep, I decided no one would recognize me anyway.  So now I’m Pierre.”

“Pierre?”

“Yep, if anyone asks I’m Huck’s cousin visiting from France, bon ami.”

“Probably not.”

“What is that horrible smell?”

“Me.”

“What is it, are you sick?”

“Squirrel #5.  When Momma Dog let me out to go to the loo this morning, I rolled around in squirrel poo to disguise myself.”

“It’s not working Hairless Huck.”

“I had to do something, the cats are two inches higher at the shoulder than I am and plus, I have a disgusting pom pom at the end of my tail!  What’s next, ribbons and diamond collars?  Get me another beer.”

“I will not, we’re not having an alcoholic terrier in this house.  It’s bad enough as it is.  Count your blessings Hairless.”

Oh yeah, should I give thanks for the three two inch hairs sticking straight up above my right eye?  That’s all I have left of my former fierce whiskery face.”

“Momma Dog, I need help in here, he’s not coming out.”

“What are you doing under the bed Huck?”

“Bad haircut mate.”

“Bad haircut!  You’ve been wanting a field cut for years.”

“I didn’t realize I was so small and pink under all my hair.  Did you see the cats last night when we came home?  They didn’t recognize me at first and then when they did after the sniff test, they had a giggling fit.  I can’t let the coyotes see me like this, they’ll have hysterics.”

“Well, I’ve got a field cut too, maybe we could go out together.”

“Not a chance, go get me a beer Nemo, I’m under here for weeks.”

“Twice in one day Huck?”

“Yep.”

“Momma Dog has already given you one bath this morning because you rolled in some nasty substance.  She’s not going to be happy that you’ve done it again!”

“Yep.”

“What were you thinking?”

“I chased six deer out of the back woods, if I want to sneak up on them,  I have to smell like them, ergo…..deer poo, and if you tell Momma Dog, I’ll be forced to rub my shoulders on your precious gorilla.”

“Ick! You savage, you stay completely away from me and my gorilla.”

“

“Kricky!  I must be older than we thought, Nemo.  I’m beginning to look like a silver back grizzly.  I thought I was only about six, but you don’t turn silver at six do you?”

“I don’t plan to turn silver at all.  I’m going to be six in August and you don’t see any silver on me do you?  You’re probably a hundred.  It’s the hoarding that’s killing you.  Watching every minute of the day and night, worrying that I might get an extra bite of burger.”

“It’s because I know you.  You would never stop with just one of my burgers, you would eat all my tucker and look for more.  You’re just like a croc in that way mate.”

“I think you should make a will and leave everything to me.”

“Not even in a parallel universe!”
