Dog Walk, Tuesday, Oct 13, 2009

“Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, we’re going in the car, we’re going in the car. Come on Nemo, our people are going to mail the books out.”

“Are you sure we can go Huck?”

“Yes, yes, yes, come on sausage grinder, I’m out the door.”

“Is Mama dog going?”

“Yes, yes, yes, yippie!”

By the time I got my coat and started for the car, my husband had both dogs loaded. This si not difficult since both of  them love to ride and rocket from the ground to the back seat at warp ten. We headed for a country park on the way to Crescent, at town with a population of 100 where we do our book mailing.

After determining there was nothing to eat in the car, not even napkins, Nemo settled into his position beside the sliding van door nose to crack, so he could try once again to be the first one out. This never works for him since he is rather portly. Huck, being a terrier type, always leaps him like a cricket and hits the ground running. Nemo is patient and is sure he will be the first one out someday. If not, well it is better for the robin to be the first worm, but it is better for the worm to be the second worm. Watching them streak along the corn field that borders the back of the park, I thought western Iowa is a great place to be in the fall. Crops look fantastic this year.

  1. Dale says:

Does Huck really call Nemo “sausage grinder”? That’s funny!!
I imagine Nemo has a few choice nick names for Huck as well…
such as “cuckleburr” or “little hemorrhoid” or something similar! Ha! Ha! Ha!
